Korean Military Discharge Date Calculator

A Korean conscript's discharge date is counted from the day of enlistment. Article 27 of the Military Service Act Enforcement Decree counts service from the enlistment day itself, and under Article 160 of the Civil Act a period in months ends on the day before the matching day in the last month. So the discharge date is enlistment + months − 1 day: someone who joins the army on 4 March 2025 is discharged 18 months later, on the day before 4 September 2026, that is 3 September 2026. When the last month has no matching day (joining on 31 August and ending in February), the period ends on that month's last day.

The lengths are the current ones, shortened under Article 19 of the Military Service Act: army and marines 18 months, navy 20, air force 21, social service personnel 21, full-time reservists 18. Any other service can be entered as a number of months. The stepwise reductions that applied to those who enlisted before June 2020 (one day every two weeks) are not modelled.

Days left run from today to the discharge date, and progress is the share of all service days already past. Days that do not count toward service (punishment, disciplinary training, desertion, Article 18(3)), deferred or early discharges are not modelled, so check the exact date with the Military Manpower Administration or the unit.
