Working Days Calculator

Walks day by day from start to end (inclusive), then subtracts the days that fall on your configured weekend or in the holiday list. Useful for project timelines, SLA reporting, leave accounting, or any scheduling where actual working days matter more than the calendar gap. Weekends and holidays are configured per use — toggle which days count as weekend (defaults to Sat + Sun), and paste any combination of YYYY-MM-DD dates as exclusions.

Weekend days
  • Total days31
  • Weekdays21
  • Weekend days10
  • Holidays (weekday)0
  • Business days21

Both endpoints are inclusive. Holidays that fall on a weekend are not double-counted.

How to use

  1. Pick a start and end date.
  2. Toggle weekend days if your week differs (Middle East, retail, etc.).
  3. Paste holiday dates as YYYY-MM-DD, one per line.

Frequently asked questions

Are both endpoints counted?
Yes — the start and end dates are both included. A Monday-to-Friday range counts 5 days, not 4.
What if a holiday falls on a weekend?
It's not double-counted. Holiday count only includes holidays that fall on a working weekday — that way the business-day total stays correct.
Why is my result one day off from an HR or payroll system?
Usually because the other system treats the range as half-open — it excludes the end date — or starts counting from the first working day rather than from the calendar start date. This tool includes both endpoints, so check which convention the other side uses before assuming one of you is wrong.
How do I handle a holiday that moves to the next working day?
Add the date it actually falls on, not the original date. A substitute holiday is a policy decision rather than something that can be derived from the calendar, and policies differ by country and by employer, so the tool takes the exclusion list exactly as you give it.
