Passport & ID Photo Maker — Crop and Print Sheet

Crop a photo to an exact ID size such as 35×45 mm or 2×2 in at 300 or 600 dpi, then tile it on a 4×6 in or A4 sheet to print. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use

  1. Pick the photo size, the resolution and the print sheet you need.
  2. Drop or choose a front-facing photo taken against a plain background.
  3. Drag the picture and adjust the zoom until the face fits the dashed guide and the centre line runs down the nose.
  4. Download the single photo, or the sheet with all copies, and print the sheet at 100 % (actual size).

About this tool

Show

Choose a photo and a size, then drag the picture and use the zoom slider until the face sits in the dashed guide. The tool exports the framed area at exactly the size you picked — 35 × 45 mm at 300 dpi is 413 × 531 pixels — and can lay out as many copies as fit on a 4 × 6 in, 5 × 7 in, A6 or A4 sheet with 2 mm between photos and optional cut lines, ready for a photo kiosk or a home printer. Everything runs in your browser; the photo is never uploaded.

The list holds common sizes (35 × 45, 2 × 2 in, 30 × 40, 33 × 48, 35 × 35, 50 × 50 and 40 × 50 mm) and a custom size. Which size, head height, background and expression are required is decided by the office that issues the document and changes from time to time, so check its current rules before printing; this tool does not judge whether a photo will be accepted. The dashed oval is a neutral framing aid, not any authority's template.

Print the sheet at 100 % ("actual size"), never "fit to page", or the photos will come out the wrong size; at a kiosk, choose the matching paper size. The sheet uses the orientation that holds more photos, centred on the page. Zooming out below 100 % adds white around the picture, which helps when the original is cropped too tightly, but the tool does not remove or replace backgrounds, so take the photo against a plain wall. Files are saved as high-quality JPEG with no location or camera data.

Frequently asked questions

Which size do I need?

It depends on the document and the office that issues it, and requirements change. Check the current rules on the issuing authority's website, then pick that size here or enter it as a custom size.

Will my photo be accepted?

This tool only crops and sizes the photo; it cannot check lighting, expression, background or head height against any official rule. Follow the issuing office's photo guidelines when you take the picture.

Why did my printed photos come out the wrong size?

The sheet was probably scaled when printing. Choose 100 % or "actual size" in the print dialog, not "fit to page", and print on paper of the sheet size you selected.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The photo is cropped and laid out on a canvas in your browser and saved directly to your device.

300 or 600 dpi?

300 dpi is what photo printers and kiosks expect for prints this size. 600 dpi doubles the pixel size and is only useful if a service asks for it.

Can it change the background to white?

No. It does not cut out the person. Take the photo in front of a plain light wall, with even light and no shadows, for the best result.
