Online Drawing Board — Sketch and Paint
Draw, sketch or doodle in your browser with a pen, highlighter, shapes and fill bucket, with undo, then save a PNG or JPG. Free, nothing uploaded.
How to use
- Choose a tool — pen, highlighter, eraser, line, rectangle, ellipse or fill — and a colour and size.
- Draw on the board with a mouse, trackpad, stylus or finger. Drag from corner to corner for shapes.
- Use Undo/Redo (or Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z) to step back, and Clear to start over.
- Download the drawing as PNG (keeps transparency) or JPG.
About this tool
ShowHide
A plain drawing board that works with a mouse, a trackpad, a stylus or a finger. Pick the pen for freehand lines (they are smoothed through the points you draw, so they do not look jagged), the highlighter for translucent marks that stay see-through even where a stroke crosses itself, the eraser, or a straight line, rectangle or ellipse that you drag out from corner to corner. The fill bucket floods a closed area with the current colour, so you can outline a shape and colour it in one click. Ten swatches and a full colour picker are there, and the size slider goes from a hairline to a broad brush.
Undo and redo go back up to 40 steps, also with Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z (Cmd on a Mac). The drawing is kept in this browser, so reloading the page or closing the tab does not lose it; clearing the browser's site data does. The board is 1600 × 1000 pixels whatever the size of your screen, so a sketch drawn on a phone exports at the same resolution as one drawn on a monitor.
The background can be white, grid paper (a guide shown only while drawing) or transparent. A PNG keeps the transparency, which is handy for drawing an overlay or a logo to place on something else; a JPG always gets a white background because the format has no transparency. Nothing you draw is uploaded anywhere: the board is a canvas on this page and the files are made in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Is my drawing uploaded or saved online?
No. It is drawn on a canvas in your browser and kept only in this browser's local storage so a reload does not lose it. Nobody else can see it.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Draw with your finger or a stylus; the page does not scroll while you draw on the board.
How do I colour inside a shape?
Choose Fill and click inside a closed outline. The area enclosed by lines of a different colour is filled with the current colour. If the outline has a gap, the fill leaks out through it — undo, close the gap and try again.
How do I get a transparent PNG?
Set the background to Transparent, draw, and download as PNG. Only what you drew is opaque. JPG cannot be transparent and is saved on white.
What resolution is the image?
Always 1600 × 1000 pixels, whatever your screen size.
How many steps can I undo?
The last 40 actions. Clearing the board is also one step, so it can be undone too.
