Time Card Calculator

Everyday

Enter each day's start time, end time, and unpaid break minutes. The tool computes per-day hours (handling shifts that cross midnight), the weekly total, and the split between regular hours and overtime above the threshold you set (default 40h/week). Add an hourly rate and it estimates your paycheck with 1.5× overtime multiplier. Useful for hourly contractors, freelancers, or anyone reconciling a paper time card.

Overtime calculated as weekly total above the threshold × 1.5. No daily OT rule — set the weekly threshold lower to approximate.

How to use

  1. Fill in start, end, and break for each day worked.
  2. Add more rows if your week has more than 5 days.
  3. Set the overtime threshold (40h default) and optionally an hourly rate.
  4. Read the total, regular/OT split, and estimated pay.

Frequently asked questions

How do you handle overnight shifts?
If end time is earlier than start (e.g. 22:00–06:00), the tool adds 24 hours so the difference works out to 8 hours. Breaks subtract normally.
What overtime rule is applied?
Simple weekly threshold (US federal default is 40 hours). Hours above the threshold count as overtime at 1.5×. Daily thresholds (California has an 8-hour rule) aren't supported — set the weekly threshold lower if you need to approximate.
Does the break field include lunch?
Yes — enter the total unpaid minutes off the clock for that day. A typical US salaried lunch (30 min unpaid) means 30; an unpaid 1-hour lunch is 60.
Is the pay before or after tax?
Gross — `regular × rate + overtime × rate × 1.5`. No deductions, no payroll taxes. For net pay use a payroll calculator with your specific filing details.
